Family Dollar jobs

I know I've seen a few Family Dollar stores around but I was very surprised by the amount of jobs listed on TweetMyJobs in the St. Louis metro area.

Most of the jobs are management or customer service jobs, but definitely worth reviewing.

Eight New Ways To Look For A Job

Just saw this article on LinkedIn that was interesting and new:

While I have already mentioned GlassDoor.com, I definitely checked out CareerSonar.com since I love social media and I'm well connected. You should be too...at least on LinkedIn for work and business.

I already took down an old public website...not because there was anything wrong with it, but because it wasn't current. This way potential employers and recruiters will see my LinkedIn page, which I spent a lot of time on, when they google me.

I already follow two job lists on Twitter: @jobsstlouis and @jobsofstlouis

And I highly encourage the use of LinkedIn groups!!

Choosing a LinkedIn Photo

I know a lot of my friends don't take LinkedIn (or any social media) too seriously but I do. I firmly believe in "building your brand" and everything you put on social media is going to be scrutinized whether you like it or not.

I do admit, I love to say funny stuff on Facebook and Twitter, but I reserve LinkedIn for job networking and I really agree with this article about using a GOOD looking photo for this site.

Now I was fortunate to get a somewhat professional head shot from a previous employer, but I think it's worth it to have a friend take your picture of your face with a solid background.
