LinkedIn Tips from Brandon Dempsey of Go Brand Go

Last week I went to the Midwest Digital Marketing Conference 2016 hosted by UMSL Business.

The slide decks just came out and you can view them here:

If you want to pay for the sound too for $15.99, you can purchase it here: https://umsldigitalconference.com/media/

There were a few presentations that I wanted to share like this one from Brandon Dempsey of Go Brand Go. Here are some of his tips for using LinkedIn:

  1. Be sure to add your industry under the Headline to be more visible in searches.

  2. Customize your LinkedIn URL to make I easy to find you.  Example: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michelleamarcus

  3. Use a professional photo, mostly of your face, no pets, and keep the background neutral to avoid distraction.

  4. Fill out your profile COMPLETELY so that the search algorithm will put your profile close to the top. LinkedIn bases their algorithm on Profile Completeness (100% only), Connections in Common (shared), and Connections by Degree (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

  5. Give recommendations to others because people are more willing to give you one back.

  6. Create a page for your company if you have a company you're trying to promote and sell for.

  7. Join groups for your industry and connect with people who post. You can also message people in the group without a direct connection.

  8. Share articles in the group and comment on other people’s posts.
