Today I attended the Midwest Digital Marketing Conference at Union Station and one of the most interesting sessions I went to was about how to "Be the CEO of You" by Roni Chambers, owner of Career Innovation Partners.

Here are several good points she made:

• You have to take charge of your career. Be the CEO of you.
• "Personal brand is what people say about you when you leave the room." -Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com
• Become your unique value proposition... What do you bring to the table? How do you bring pain relief to your boss?
• The St Louis Business Journal is a great resource for companies in the area. Then you have to network. Use LinkedIn. Find out who you are connected with at those companies.
• When you get the interview, research the interviewers and the company. Come up with questions about the companies. Use social media.
• You should always negotiate every offer. Use Salary.com.
• Use the book StrengthFinders and take the assessments tests.
